Blood Brew, my surreal horror-comedy tribute to ’60′s drive-in films like The Undertaker and his Pals and The Gruesome Twosome, was a semi-finalist at Screamfest LA. You can find more information about the script after the jump and find a full list of finalists at Dread Central.

Plot synopsis: When two slackers are in need of rent money one decides to capture the local serial killer and collect a bounty while the other gets a job at a bar that caters to some unusual clientele (pssst… they’re vampires).

Mark Potts’ S&M Lawn Care won a Special Jury Prize at the Friars Club Comedy Film Festival last night. Congratulations to Mark and everyone else at Singletree Productions!

Collection Agency Films’ The Bright Knight just took home a Gold Pollie Award for Best Web Video. The spot was written by Dano Johnson and myself from a concept by Bill Hillsman, it was produced by Collection Agency Films and Northwoods Advertising. Tate English’s The Ballad of Friday and June won “Best Short Film” at the Indie Memphis Film Festival this weekend. The film will be screening at the Austin Film Festival on October 24th.

I just found out The Insur-Animals: Episode 1 won two Pollie Awards (which recognize “the best in political and public affairs communications”). The video took home a silver for “Best Use of Web Video” and a bronze for “Best Use of Humor.”
