I’m happy to announce that two films I worked on will be screening at this year’s Outfest Los Angeles. Yen Tan’s The Outfit (which I co-wrote and edited) screens July 10th and 14th at the DGA and Brad Besser’s Beaver Trilogy Part IV (which I produced) screens July 16th at the RedCat. I’m really proud of both films and thrilled they’re screening together at such a prestigous festival.
Several films I’ve worked on continued their festival runs this weekend. The deadCENTER Film Festival screened both Yen Tan’s The Outfit and John Bryant’s award-winning The Samaritans, while the Oak Cliff Film Festival also played The Samaritans along with Brad Besser’s documentary Beaver Trilogy Part IV. At Oak Cliff I was fortunate enough to moderate a panel on underground filmmaking with two of my favorite filmmakers, Cinema of Transgression founder Nick Zedd and Rubin and Ed director (and the subject of Beaver Trilogy Part IV) Trent Harris. I recently cut this humorous spot for Jason’s Deli’s new Quinoa Shrimp & Mango Salad, created through a partnership with M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The spot was produced by Alpheus Media in association with The Bear.
Jeannette Catsoulis, movie critic for the New York Times recommends filling that “Mad Men-shaped hole in your Sunday-night viewing” with High Profits. “Candid and surprisingly clearheaded, this riveting look at frontier entrepreneurship — and millennial creativity — proves that opening a recreational pot dispensary isn’t the doddle you would think.” CNN is airing a marathon of the first five episodes starting this Sunday at 10pm ET/7pm PT.

Yen Tan’s new short film The Outfit is now playing the festival circuit. I co-wrote (with Yen) and edited the horror comedy which stars AJ Bowen (You’re Next, The Sacrament) as a Republican Congressman who becomes the subject of some unwanted rumors after wearing the wrong outfit to a fund-raiser. The film screens this week at the Maryland Film Festival and next month at deadCENTER (along with John Bryant’s award-winning The Samaritans, which I also cut). High Profits, the eight part docu-series I’ve been editing for Bat Bridge Entertainment, will premiere Sunday, April 19th at 10PM ET/PT on CNN. I’m really proud of this show and I can’t wait for people to finally see it. From CNN:
